Hot and Flat-ish

No real waves to speak of- and nothing really on the horizon, either. Boo.

In Tropical News... a storm just west of the Cape Verdes Islands has started to spin. NHC has called it Invest 99. Doesn't look too impressive. Another wave will come off the African coast later this week. Stay tuned. One of these things has got to pop eventually.

Saturday, August 1, 2009

Waves still... And again?

We got a pretty good day of surf with picture perfect weather on august 1...

Looks like seas build a bit on Monday- until then look for slowly subsiding waves.

Thursday, July 30, 2009

Pretty damn fun

Beach report - waist to shoulder peaky fun. Winds outta the west but not too strong

Seas a bit higher

Some strong storms passed through the region last night, and left seas a bit larger than when they came. It's not big by any means, but it is bigger than it's been this week. Looks like we'll see this stick around, then grow a bit for the weekend.

Basically, onshore/siseshore and waist high consistently over the next few days with bigger pulses.

Go surf...

Sunday, July 26, 2009

More Summer Surf

Friday was pretty good for summer... consistently chest high. Saturday had some leftovers that continued through today (sunday). More south wind will bump seas up a bit, looking about 6-7 feet at 7 secs for monday. The rest of the week stays onshore and fairly rideable.

Can't complain about waves every day in summer!

Rapidly Intesified Storm

One of the lows I mentioned in an earlier post has rapidly intensified off the Jersey coast and is steaming up to New England. Seas built rapidly, in an already agitated state. Buoy 44025 is showing heights and period increase. Wind has switched north, and is starting to blow the swell out to sea...which means it's a wind game now.

This storm came pretty much right over our area, and became quite strong very rapidly. The wind forecast is difficult, but should clock N to W, eventually become more southerly. Timing and intensity is too tough to call- and will vary across the region.

I'm on alert from dawn to dusk tomorrow.

Wednesday, July 22, 2009

Steady tradeswell- bigger pulses

Buoys aren't showing much, but there's some decent energy pointed at us. Waves weren't too big, around chest on sets. Looking like we'll see this pattern continue, with periods of higher energy as some additional lows come through the area. Winds are forecast to have north in em so we could see better surf soon.

Sunday, July 19, 2009

Sunday funday

Some waves out there today again- nothing big but should be plenty rideable. I'm guessing about stomach high- there's lotsa beginners out there so becareful. Might want to help us all out by telling them a tip or two- especially about safety. I've been hit with a couple little kids boards lately- NOT good...

I'm outta heeeeeere.

Thursday, July 16, 2009

Windchop

Looks like some windchop on south facing shores today- and maybe tomorrow. It's not all that big, and definitely not organized but it is probably worth a surf anyway.

I'm hoping that it sticks around tomorrow morning, because wind should be pretty light.

It's pretty nice out, and it looks somewhat ride-able. That's enough for me to go down to the beach and check it. I'm going to wait until later this afternoon/evening- should be a bit bigger and maybe more organized with an outgoing tide.

Tuesday, July 14, 2009

Summertime

Yup, it's summer. There's been a flurry of 'waves' now and again. Nothing really that good, but probably worth getting wet every once in a while.

Looks like we might have a small windswell come up on thursday- looking similar to Sunday, which was waist high, maybe a touch bigger...but weak. Might be a good idea to keep an eye out.

Later into the weekend or so, another system approaches. Could be better than what we've had recently, too.

Tuesday, June 30, 2009

Summer Flatness

Not looking too good for surf in the near-term. The big 4th of July weekend is looming, so I'm calling it summertime flatness. If you're heading to the beach, I guess it wouldn't hurt to bring a log and hope for a ride-able bump.

Nothing happening in the tropics, either.

I should get on a plane and visit my friends in Hawaii. Good swell on the way there...again. They're having a ridiculously good summer season thus far.

Wednesday, June 24, 2009

Waves Thurs-Sat?

Forecast is calling for a little swell to come through starting on Thursday. Nothing big, about 3.5 feet at 9 secs. Should be decent if you can line up all the variables. Looks like it will hold up for a couple of days, as well.

Friday, June 19, 2009

More of the same

It doesn't look like we are going to break out of this trend for the next few days. Waves and weather stay pretty much the same. Swell heights stay around 4 feet at 7 seconds, maybe a bit stronger every now and then. Go find a decent sandbar at the right tide when there's good wind and it'll be pretty fun.

Thursday, June 18, 2009

Waves Friday...

Looks like seas will peak on Friday- It's looking mostly short period windswell- maybe up to 6-8 feet at 6 or 7 sec. Should be pretty fun. Winds go lighter on late Friday into Saturday.

Seas should stay active for the next few days as systems roll through- maybe a bit of a longer (8-9 secs) period swell early next week.

So basically, go surf Friday when the winds calm, and probably Saturday.

Monday, June 15, 2009

More rain and maybe waves

Another series of disturbances will pass over us this week. Thursday sees building seas, peaking on Friday. I'm waiting for the forecast to firm up before getting too excited- but it look like waves at the end of the week...

Friday, June 5, 2009

Maybe something decent

Forecast is calling for a swell of 4' at 8 secs on saturday. Not sure that forecast will hold- but it would be nice. Winds are supposed to be NW, too.

Could make for a fun saturday.

Wednesday, June 3, 2009

Summer?

Not looking to good for waves this week. It's possible that we'll see something on Friday/Saturday as a storm comes by. Looking like onshore short period windswell , with maybe a small cleanup. I'm not too optimistic, but it might be enough to get wet.

Saturday, May 30, 2009

Saturday Slides

Buoy is still registering a small swell and the wind is north. As the Ramones say...the sun is out, and I want some.

Going to get a few on the cheeseburger. My 6'6" 22.25" 3" egg will be the call.

Maybe try to spear some fish after?

Friday, May 29, 2009

Tropical Swell

The first tropical swell of the season is upon us! Trop Depression 1 is moving southeast of area waters today kicking up a little groundswell of about 4 feet. Winds should be light all day, making for some decent conditions.

I'm going to try to hit it after work.

Thursday, May 14, 2009

Friday Waves

OK- This is looking like it's becoming a weekly event!

Waves should build overnight, and then start to glass off as winds die into the early morning.

Looking like some windswell in the chest+ range on Friday. I'm thinking it might stick around for some fun leftovers on Saturday, and maybe even a slight rebuild on Sunday.

All in all- should be some waves over the next few days.

Tuesday, May 12, 2009

Friday Funday

Hey Hey

Last weeks swell was pretty fun. Saturday was actually in the chest high range pretty much all day- which was awesome.

Looks like we'll see another swell for this Friday, fading Saturday and maybe bumping back up for Sunday?

Time will tell- I'm pretty sure we'll see some rippable waves late this week into the weekend, though.

Fish Frye on Sunday in Long Beach, too!

Wednesday, May 6, 2009

Good Waves Friday Morning?

There's been a little swell hanging around the last few days- I haven't had the time to look around, but I'm sure there was some fun waves to be found lately.

Look for winds to increase over the next 12-24 hours as this next system rolls through. Waves will come up as this storm passes. I am hoping we'll get some light winds- Right now, it looks like Friday morning could be good.

Oh yeah, certain spots in NJ should get good for this one. Probably a lot earlier if SW winds work where you are planning to surf...

Friday, May 1, 2009

Windswell on it's way

Front is coming through, and winds are picking up. Saturday-Looks like the winds will be outta the west, then shifting more northerly later in the day. Looks like a tricky wind forecast, so I'd stay on top of it.

Waves should be at least around the chest high mark.

Wednesday, April 29, 2009

Nothing now...maybe weekend?

That front that came through last night didn't do much for the waves. There's a small wave, but nothing really...

Later in the week another system will come through. Depends on the wind on the backside of this front... There will be waves- but will it be clean in LI or NJ or both? Time will tell.

Stay tuned.

Monday, April 27, 2009

This week's forecast

A cold front will pass by on Tuesday. It may have a rideable windswell on the backside, but the models aren't calling for much. Keep an eye on the buoy.

Later in the week, looks like a solid swell shaping up for Saturday. We'll see.

Saturday, April 25, 2009

Beach Day in April

Nice warm beach weekend in April. Considering I saw snow flakes less than a week ago, I won't complain about the lack of swell.

There's a little bump, and it's warm. Go to the beach, have a bbq, whatever.

Wednesday, April 22, 2009

Oh well

Went to check it early- wind was starting to come up. Swell wasn't hitting at my old high tide spot, either.

Maybe you fared better than me?

Tuesday, April 21, 2009

Wind dies...morning session?

Well, the wind really died off this afternoon. I am guessing a few lucky folks got out there in time for the 'glass' off. I'm sure it never got all that clean, but it was probably pretty fun.

Wind is forecast to be light overnight, and into tomorrow. I'd imagine there could be some fun waves to be had tomorrow...as long as the wind stays as forecast.

Check it if ya can...

Sunday, April 19, 2009

Wind and Rain

A whole slew of fronts will track across the region over the next few days. This will create a bunch of wind and waves- but not looking too good for a cleanup. I'm hoping something will change in the forecasts. I don't know about you, but I still think it's damn cold to be surfing VAS condintions...

I'll post some more as we get more into the peak of the swell- Tuesday-ish.

Thursday, April 16, 2009

Go get some!

Looking pretty good out there this morning. Solid ESE swell, with light northerly winds. Low Tide at 7:30...incoming all morning. Should be pretty good all day- as long as the winds cooperate.

Tomorrow will have some fun leftovers, I think.

It's sunny, warm(er), and there's waves. Go hit it!

(It might be glassy enough down in nj, too)

Tuesday, April 14, 2009

The Build

A low will pass south of LI later today, and will start to generate some East swell for us. Looking like this swell could last Weds-Friday. The question will be what the winds will do. As of now, the NWS is calling for hard East then NE winds for the next few days, switching west on Friday. I'd be pretty surprised if we didn't get some favorable wind/swell conditions outta this event. Keep an eye on flags/wind forecasts. \
NJ should be pretty blown out on this one, until maybe a small cleanup day on Friday

Friday, April 10, 2009

Sorry for the lack of updates

Hello loyal tubespit readers.

I was out of the country for the past week or so, hence the lack of updates. I was somewhere down south checking out greener pastures...

Back to the waves-

Looking pretty weak for the upcoming week. The next chance for waves is about 6 or 7 days out with perhaps some E/NE type stuff. Too early to see how this will pan out, though.

Monday, March 30, 2009

West Winds

There is swell in the water, but the westerly winds are hacking it up pretty good here on LI. Down in NJ, looks to be a bit better.

Friday, March 27, 2009

Back on LI

Looks like I am going to be back on LI for the foreseeable future, so reports and forecasts will be for that area-unless otherwise specified.

Oh, and Alex is moving to Hawaii tomorrow. I'm sure he'll send us reports/forecasts to make us jealous. Jerk.

Back to the waves... There is a nice little long period swell showing up today- It's about 4' at 12 secs. Winds are light, too. Should be some fun waves coming through... Might be a touch bigger in NJ due to the easterly component.

Looking forward, we have a front passing later this weekend. Seas should build nicely outta the south. Winds will be west or northwest- we'll see how it pans out as we get closer.

Wednesday, March 25, 2009

Minor Background Swell

There's a little bump out there now- should last through the end of the week, more or less. Could be fun at the right tide for some slides.

Looking a little further out... there is a front coming through later this weekend. That should create some south swell for us.

Sunday, March 22, 2009

Better

Incoming from low tide was pretty good this afternoon. Chest high range, maybe a few bigger sets here and there. Pretty fun. Nice day, water's warming up a bit.

Saw a kid out in a 3/2, no boots, no gloves. He stayed out for at least 20 minutes! I know it's spring...but jeez the water is like 40 degrees.

I'll take a look later, but I am guessing the dropping swell and high tide will kill it.

It's alright, I guess

Waves look pretty small, and are closing out a bunch with the east swell. Every once in a while a decent wave hits the right sandbar and peels- but not often enough for me to bother suiting up.

I'm going to keep an eye on it all day. Winds are forecast to stay west... Perhaps it will look better later.

Saturday, March 21, 2009

Long Period Swell, with onshores

There is some swell out there, but the onshore wind is messing it up. Tomorrow might be decent, though. Still some swell, and west winds are forecast for the morning.

Let's see how this pans out.

Thursday, March 19, 2009

Pffffft

Typical. This morning, winds were light, but the tide was too low. Then the tide came in, and the wind came up.

haha

Can't win.

Wednesday, March 18, 2009

Waves are here

There was some rights and left coming in this morning.

Look for this swell to continue on tomorrow. Hopefully, the wind will have enough west in it to be good!

Tuesday, March 17, 2009

Forecast is holding

Still looking like we'll see some waves tomorrow, maybe even a session later today. Winds are forecast to go pretty light this afternoon, then go SW overnight.

Keep an eye out.

Monday, March 16, 2009

Wednesday?

Swell should come up, along with NE winds. Its looking like lighter winds for Wednesday... we'll see as it gets closer.

Saturday, March 14, 2009

Should have gone out earlier!

Typical- I waited for it to get better, and it got worse. It's pretty crappy looking now, maybe waist high crumbly closeouts.

Oh well, it's not like I really missed an epic session earlier, anyway...

Saturday Waves

There's a little wave today. Tide was a little high, but it looks around waist high. It's worth a check, if you don't have anything better to do.

I might go out when the tide drains a bit more.

Friday, March 13, 2009

Flat

It's flat, and looks to stay that way into the foreseeable future. Awesome!

We'll let ya know if anything changes.

Wednesday, March 11, 2009

Evening Report

Wind never really went offshore here. It was light, but a bump stayed on it until dark. We managed to get a couple turns, but it would have been much better with an hour or so of offshore winds. Sets were about chest high, maybe a touch bigger on the drop.

Guessing it will be flat in the morning with hard offshores overnight.

Hump Day Report

There's some combo swell in the water. Tide's pretty low right now, and the winds flopping between South and Southwest.

I'm guessing the wind switches more westerly later this afternoon. Combine that with the incoming tide, and we might have some fun surf.

Worth a check later, for sure.

Tuesday, March 10, 2009

A skunking!

Took a trip down to DR last week, and unfortunately we got pretty skunked! Normally, there is no wind in the mornings...last week it blew like 20kts all day long. There was plenty of swell, just no good wind conditions.

We still managed to squeak a few decent sessions, but nothing epic.

On top of the skunking, prices were much higher, and the country seems a lot seedier than previous years. Oh well, chalk it up to a shitty week in paradise.

Locally, there's some swell in the water. Winds are messing it up, though. Maybe a bit cleaner tomorrow with a more westerly flow. Also looking like a swell for late this weekend.

We'll keep ya posted.

Surf trip to Cabarete, Dominican Republic

Surf trip to the Dominican Republic coming up on Saturday, we rented this Cabarete beach rental for 10 days.

I think the DR is a pretty under rated surf destination, as most of the East Coast pays attention to PR in the Winter. But the DR has basically the same swell exposure as PR, its way cheaper, less crowded, and there are tons of spots to find off the map. Check it out for yourself:

http://www.wannasurf.com/spot/Central_America/Dominican_Republic/index.html

We are looking at two potential wave makers as of right now, for NY/NJ and the DR, one coming on Friday/Saturday and another bigger swell coming on Sunday/Monday. Pictures from the trip to follow...

Monday, February 23, 2009

West winds take control

There was a little longboardable wave Sunday afternoon, nothing special.

Looking for another swell to come our way on Friday night or Saturday morning

Friday, February 20, 2009

Stoked

Yesterday was firing, today is basically flat. Some waist high close outs but not worth it at all.

Maybe a little wave on Sunday?

Thursday, February 19, 2009

Looks Pretty Damn Good

Waves looked super good pretty much all day. Too bad I've been sick. I'm sure Alex pulled into more than his fair share of tubes while I was laid up on the couch.

Go surf

Fun combo swell (S windswell and East groundswell) in the chest to head+ range with light offshores. Hopefully it fills in more with the incoming tide.

Go get some.

Monday, February 16, 2009

Thursday

New swell on tap for Thursday. Swell should build with southerly flow on Wednesday, then clean up with West winds on Thursday.

Get amped.

Sunday, February 15, 2009

Flatness for now, new swell Thurs

Hard offshores for the beginning of the week keep us flat, but there should be another head high swell with clean conditions on Thursday.

Thursday, February 12, 2009

The little swell that could

I was impressed with the holding power of this swell. The incoming tide was damn good- lining up nice with some decent barrels coming through, plus it had some push behind it.
Though...a pack of people showed up (again) and paddled out where we were sitting. Am I nuts, or does this piss you guys off, too?
Changed jetties, and got a sick backside barrel from behind the peak. Grabbed a rail and pointed it towards daylight...couldn't believe I made it. Got that one on mental playback!

Don't think it will have anything left for the morning- but maybe? Hopefully?!

Post-Session Update

Tide drop helped the waves a bunch. There's some pretty damn good rights reelin off the local jetty. It's still about chest+ with some better sets.

I was surfing with a buddy for over an hour when a bunch of people show up at once. They all paddle over the jetty where we've been for quite some time. This alone drives me nutty. There's scores of jetties in either direction and they need to plop down right next to us. One of the kids decides to paddle around both of us- so when he starts paddling I drop in on him. He looks bewildered. I gave him an explanation...hopefully he learned something. Maybe he'll tell someone else. (Though, my guess is that he'll complain about it to his friends, instead)

Lunch now, and then probably go out as the tide starts to come back in...

It would be so good right now if....

Typical. If the X (wind) was a bit Y (less) it would be so good. Ughh.

Anyway, there's still waves it's about head high on the sets. The wind (25+ kts) is making it look almost impossible to get into waves, but it's still do-able. It's also looking pretty mushy due to the wind blowing the tops off of waves. Maybe the dropping tide will help.

Well..... I'm going out, again. (at least it's warm!)

Wow Windy!

Cranking offshores with swell at about chest+. Buoy forecasts that it picks up some more as the day goes on, but it's hard to believe with the wind blowing that hard. Hopefully, it stays true and stays good as the tide drains this afternoon.

I'm not taking any chances- I'm headed out!

Wednesday, February 11, 2009

Waves for Thursday

Good size swell should show up on Thursday. Starts the day with shorter period stuff, but should lengthen to about 9-10+ later on in the day. Size looks pretty good- I'd be surprised if it wasn't at least head high for a good part of the day. Look for strong offshores to knock it down overnight. Maybe a little something for Friday AM? More on that tomorrow when we see how this thing actually shows up on the beach.

Looking forward to some tubos.

Monday, February 9, 2009

Next Chance for Waves...

Swell models are picking up a decent south swell on about Thursday. Winds are looking good for NJ, with a good amount of west already in the forecast.

It's looking to be at least head high as of now- but we'll see if that sticks.

Enjoy the warm southerly flow!

Sunday, February 8, 2009

NJ Surf Report - Sunday Feb 8

Weak knee high dribbly short period south windswell, basically not rideable. It could be loggable at low tide, but nothing to get excited about.

Looks like 2/12 will be the next swell

Saturday, February 7, 2009

Flat...

for now, maybe a small wave on Sunday.

Next swell looks to come the 12th/13th

Wednesday, February 4, 2009

First real winter swell of 2009

The swell really filled in, head high with some plus sets, with a light NW wind making for pretty clean conditions.

Go get some.

Tuesday, February 3, 2009

Long and to the left

Some long shoulder high lefthanders started coming in this afternoon as the wind died.

Hoping for more of the same tomorrow, especially since the wind is supposed to go more NW.

NJ Surf report - 2/3/2009

Waist high building surf with gusty N/NE winds. Waves should continue to build throughout the day, your best bet for some clean surf will be LI.

Looking for a cleanup in NJ tomorrow morning, waves should be chest high+ and semi clean with NW winds.

Monday, February 2, 2009

Google Ocean

Check out the sea floor with Google Earth 5.0:

http://earth.google.com/

Some cool maps and pictures:

http://www.justmagic.com/GM-GE.html

Monday morning NJ surf report

Still some swell in the water with a little more period than yesterday, only about stomach high, worth a go out.

Sunday, February 1, 2009

Weak

Small short period south windswell in the knee high range, not really worth it.

Expect a solid head high + swell early this week, conditions may improve for NY and South facing beaches Tues afternoon, with a cleanup for NJ on Wednesday morning. The track of the storm has been changing every 12 hours, so this will probably change 4 times before anything happens.

Saturday, January 31, 2009

Early this week

There was still a little wave, waist high, in the water on Friday but it wasn't that good.

Some south winds on Sunday might setup a small windswell for the afternoon or Monday morning, not much fetch behind it though.

Then there will be a larger storm coming Monday/Tuesday that could produce for us.

Thursday, January 29, 2009

Wasn't that good...

Well, I think I got a little too excited... it wasn't that good. Really inconsistent.

Better?!

Dare I say that it looks better now than earlier? I do.

.....and I'm going back out now!

Post Session Update

Got some fun ones this morning- it was a little deep, but still had some chest high rights pushing through. The swell angle was good for the local beach, and we had a few waves line up nicely.

Look for the tide to start draining out soon. That could/should cause the waves to get a bit better- buoys are nearly the same readings since early this morning, so we could get another session in...

Nothing epic- but some decent little waves.

It's green- Go!

Still at least Chest high and clean in NJ. Go surf.

Wednesday, January 28, 2009

Yellow Turned Red... Green Next?

ugh. Wind has picked up out of the South, and it's as ugly as it's been all day.

Hopefully, the swell will be around for a session in the morning.

Yellow Alert

Well the wind is light here in NJ, and the waves are cleaning up a bit. It's not blowing offshore yet, so it's still pretty disorganized.

It looks like it's about chest to shoulder high from the beach- but it's kinda tough to tell with all the fog.

Maybe we'll get a decent session in before dark? I'm keeping an eye on it, and so should you!

Winds will go hard outta the west sometime later- and maybe the swell will be clean and ridable in the morning.

Tuesday, January 27, 2009

Forecast Looking Better For Midweek

Swell should build a bit through Wednesday- but the offshore's will probably come after dark and it'll go flat by Thursday morning. That'd be just our luck.

I'll keep ya posted.

Sunday, January 25, 2009

Winter Flat Spell

I don't know about you, but this winter flat spell is driving me nuts. I guess I shouldn't call it flat, but it's been super small for some time now- that combined with cold weather/water makes me kinda nuts. Maybe I'm getting jaded.

Forecast for this week?
As the magic 8 ball says- Outlook not good.

(though we've got a low moving NE around midweek, and the end of the week shows some volatility too. maybe the forecast will change?)

Friday, January 23, 2009

Belmar pictures - January 20

Thanks to Jim Mclaugh for taking these shots of me, January 20 Belmar

Warmer, still beat

Nothin out there today, but some South winds are making the temps go up and might throw in a little south swell overnight. Check it out early tomorrow for perhaps a waist high bump.

You know its geting bad when we are hoping for a waist high bump...

Thursday, January 22, 2009

Warmer, but still pretty beat

Well the waves are pretty much the same as yesterday. Which is to say- not too good.

It is a little warmer today, practically balmy compared to the last week.

When are we going to break outta this pattern?!?

Wednesday, January 21, 2009

Cold and Small

There's some long period lines coming in, but the local beach isn't looking too good. It's probably about waist high, maybe the odd bigger set. Must waves are just close-outs- and it's dumb cold out. If you are really desperate...go for it.

....Lately, the newspaper mentioned cheap airfare. I gotta fly to Saint-Somewhere....

Obama throws a shaka

Our new President throws up a shaka:

http://news.yahoo.com/nphotos/Barack-Obama-White-House-Washington-January-20/photo//090121/photos_ts/2009_01_20t172520_301x450_us_obama//s:/ap/20090121/ap_on_go_pr_wh/obama_day_one

Small and weak

About knee high right now and clean, not worth it in the cold. Maybe it will bump up with the incoming tide in the next hour?

Tuesday, January 20, 2009

Filled in

The longer period swell really filled in overnight, there were some solid chest high walls this morning with light NW winds.

Low tide is hurting it right now, but it should pick back up with the incoming as long as the wind stays light.

Monday, January 19, 2009

Good story about Timmy Turner and his new movie

Worth a read:

http://espn.go.com/action/news/story?id=3830299

Long period swell filling in

Its waist high with a few plus peaks sneaking around, may be better as the tide drains out this afternoon.

Is that it?

I'm thinking the little knee high wave out there is just the short period swell showing, on the buoys its 3 ft at 7 seconds, and the long period swell has yet to fill in.

I will keep an eye on it as the tide comes in.

Sunday, January 18, 2009

Almost barely rideable

There is almost a rideable short period wave out there, but its really weak and not worth it in my opinion.

Hoping for some longer period swell tomorrow in the waist high range with west winds. Low tide early in the AM so I will give a look and update then.

Thursday, January 15, 2009

Snowy cold and waist high

This little snow storm has sent in some ENE swell in the knee to waist high range with light NW winds making for semi clean conditions. Tide is a little high right now, it may be worth a look this afternoon.

Wednesday, January 14, 2009

Haha

No possibility of waves today, unless you are going to Europe with the west winds.

When will this cold end?

Monday, January 12, 2009

Maybe loggable

I hope you got some yesterday, winds never really killed it and some longer period chest high lines filled in during the afternoon incoming tide.

There is still some swell out there hidden under the high tide, and I think as the tide goes out it may be rideable on a longboard. I'll call it knee to waist high.

Nothing to get excited about in the forecast, except maybe some local windswell on Tuesday and Weds afternoon.

Sunday, January 11, 2009

Little peaks

There are some little peaks out there right now in the waist high range, maybe a few chest high here and there, but its super mushy with the 7 am high tide. I think it will be fun in about an hour, but watch out for the winds turning more NNW around 12 or 1.

Thursday, January 8, 2009

Go surf

Its a bit windy- but the tides coming in and the waves are pretty good

Will it clean up?

There's waves today- but the wind forecast is pretty screwy.
As for waves-Right now, it's probably chest+ and really disorganized. It looks like the swell is short period windswell outta the east. This should rotate more southerly, and become a longer period swell.
Wind- Right now the wind is light out of the NNW, and this should rotate counterclockwise to the SW into tonight. Tomorrow winds will be West.

So...what does this all mean?
Maybe a clean up this afternoon.
Clean waves tomorrow, but the strong west winds will knock it down...

Still Waiting

In case you were wondering, it was flat today. Swell should build through Weds and clean-up is possible for Wednesday afternoon. It all depends on when the front comes past us- so watch the flags...or this blog.
