Hot and Flat-ish

No real waves to speak of- and nothing really on the horizon, either. Boo.

In Tropical News... a storm just west of the Cape Verdes Islands has started to spin. NHC has called it Invest 99. Doesn't look too impressive. Another wave will come off the African coast later this week. Stay tuned. One of these things has got to pop eventually.

Waves still... And again?

We got a pretty good day of surf with picture perfect weather on august 1...

Looks like seas build a bit on Monday- until then look for slowly subsiding waves.

Pretty damn fun

Beach report - waist to shoulder peaky fun. Winds outta the west but not too strong

Seas a bit higher

Some strong storms passed through the region last night, and left seas a bit larger than when they came. It's not big by any means, but it is bigger than it's been this week. Looks like we'll see this stick around, then grow a bit for the weekend.

Basically, onshore/siseshore and waist high consistently over the next few days with bigger pulses.

Go surf...

More Summer Surf

Friday was pretty good for summer... consistently chest high. Saturday had some leftovers that continued through today (sunday). More south wind will bump seas up a bit, looking about 6-7 feet at 7 secs for monday. The rest of the week stays onshore and fairly rideable.

Can't complain about waves every day in summer!

Rapidly Intesified Storm

One of the lows I mentioned in an earlier post has rapidly intensified off the Jersey coast and is steaming up to New England. Seas built rapidly, in an already agitated state. Buoy 44025 is showing heights and period increase. Wind has switched north, and is starting to blow the swell out to sea...which means it's a wind game now.

This storm came pretty much right over our area, and became quite strong very rapidly. The wind forecast is difficult, but should clock N to W, eventually become more southerly. Timing and intensity is too tough to call- and will vary across the region.

I'm on alert from dawn to dusk tomorrow.

Steady tradeswell- bigger pulses

Buoys aren't showing much, but there's some decent energy pointed at us. Waves weren't too big, around chest on sets. Looking like we'll see this pattern continue, with periods of higher energy as some additional lows come through the area. Winds are forecast to have north in em so we could see better surf soon.

Sunday funday

Some waves out there today again- nothing big but should be plenty rideable. I'm guessing about stomach high- there's lotsa beginners out there so becareful. Might want to help us all out by telling them a tip or two- especially about safety. I've been hit with a couple little kids boards lately- NOT good...

I'm outta heeeeeere.

Windchop

Looks like some windchop on south facing shores today- and maybe tomorrow. It's not all that big, and definitely not organized but it is probably worth a surf anyway.

I'm hoping that it sticks around tomorrow morning, because wind should be pretty light.

It's pretty nice out, and it looks somewhat ride-able. That's enough for me to go down to the beach and check it. I'm going to wait until later this afternoon/evening- should be a bit bigger and maybe more organized with an outgoing tide.

Summertime

Yup, it's summer. There's been a flurry of 'waves' now and again. Nothing really that good, but probably worth getting wet every once in a while.

Looks like we might have a small windswell come up on thursday- looking similar to Sunday, which was waist high, maybe a touch bigger...but weak. Might be a good idea to keep an eye out.

Later into the weekend or so, another system approaches. Could be better than what we've had recently, too.
